bed, guest room, mattress

When friends or family to come visit from out of town, it’s important to make sure they feel comfortable in your home. Whether you have a spare room or just a pull out couch, you can make your guests feel like they are staying at their home away from home with just a few simple tips.

Give Them as Much Privacy as Possible

Sometimes it isn’t possible to give your guests their own room and/or bathroom, but privacy is one of the most important parts of making your guests comfortable staying at your home. So what can you do to give them their privacy? Even if the pull-out couch is the only extra bed in the house, closing doors (or hanging curtains) to separate their area and make the space truly theirs will make them feel more at ease.

Another idea is giving them your room. Your home will always feel like home to you. That means it won’t matter if you wake up in your bed or on your couch. Offering guests your bedroom is a surefire way to instantly improve the likelihood that they will enjoy their stay.

Be Concerned with How They Sleep

The only thing as important as privacy is a good night’s sleep. A lot of people have a hard time sleeping in a home that is not their own. This means it’s your job to provide everything you can so that they can be as comfortable as possible. Check what temperature your guest prefers while they sleep. Make sure they have access to a fan or the thermostat to set their preferences.

Also, make sure they have plenty of blankets and pillows. You can never provide too much comfort in this department! Finally, make sure the bed or mattress they are sleeping on is protected. Allergens from pet dander or dust mites can stir up symptoms for an allergy sufferer while he or she sleeps. Solve this issue with a high-quality mattress protector. Only the best for your guests!
